ENGLAND SQUAD SESSIONS;
As I see it you have 3 options;
1. YOU WOULD LIKE TO SELECT FOR ENGLAND DUTIES IN 2009;
Then you need to commit 100% and do everything that is asked of you, no moaning just get on with it. these are the rules set out by the new coach and that's it. Do what you can and give it a shot for 12 months and see what happens. I agree there may be too much for an Athlete to do, but things have to change as England got nowt at the Worlds and are slipping further down the league table.
2. YOU ARE NOT SURE YOU CAN COMMIT BUT WOULD LIKE TO GAIN MORE EXPERIENCE;
Then go on what you can with the EKF squad sessions, get your face seen and gain more experience training with the England coaches & with the Shindo kai squad, may be in 12 months time you are in a position to try for selections.
3. YOU DON'T WISH TO SELECT  YET;
Just keep training at your clubs, gain more fighting experience and keep going away with the shindo kai squad when ever you can.

 Sensei's Paul Newby and Craig Burke have are now the NORTHERN REGIONAL COACHES FOR ENGLAND!!! fantastic news, the HQ for the Northern sessions is sensei Paul's Dojo, its a great centre and nearly as big as Athersley sports centre.
I  don't fully understand everything yet, I am sure over the next month or so it will become clearer but here are the main points as I understand it;
  • There will be 3 Regional squads. Southern, Midlands and Northern.
  • Only Athletes that are selected from the Regional squads can select for England duties.
  • Each Athlete must train at their respective regional centres 2 times in month with the regional coach. (£10 per session)
  • All Athletes will have a training & fitness log, these must be filled in by the coach for each session attended.
  • All Athletes must pass a Fitness routine before being able to train or select for major competitions.
  • Anyone wanting to select for England must enter in 2 domestic competitions a month or an Internationals and domestic competition a month.
  • Athletes must attend Open squad sessions. The first one is Sunday 4th Jan in Dudley. This is the responsibility of each student to fill in the forms and send off yourselves, anyone can attend an open squad session as long as you are 13 years and above and are on the Shindo kai squad.
  • Coaches will try to support students on courses but everyone must remember that coaches have families, Jobs and when coaching sessions are being done, we can only sit in the crowd and watch, we cant offer any support.
  • Northern sessions are at sensei pauls Dojo every Monday night 7.30 pm - 8.30/9.00pm. £10 a session. first session is Monday 5th January and every Monday after that. Athletes who wish to go for England selection MUST attend 2 a month. I have been to sensei pauls dojo, on a clear run from Barnsley its about an hours run, hit the M62 when its bad add on 30 minutes. The worst time for the M62 is between 5.30 - 6.30 pm. If you can hit the M62 at 6.30 pm you have an hour from there to get to the centre which is do-able!

BLACK BELT;
Congratulations to Chloe Sheldon who passed her 1st Dan at a special grading at sensei Craig's club. Chloe had been training for months for her grading date in October, but had to make the choice between going for selections for the England squad or Dan grading.  she choose the England squad. Both myself and sensei ged said it was ok for Chloe to grade under the same conditions at her club & not have to wait 6 month.
well done Chloe!
