We have the coaches, Work ethic and professionalism to take you all the way. you put in the time and work and we will back you all the way. Never, ever give up the dream!!

Myself and Sensei Dave cant make it due to a students wedding that weekend. sensei Craig Burke will be in charge of the squad, So make it as easy as possible for him and make sure you all hit your weights, have full protection and your license books. OH and also Shindo badges on all gis please, Show them where you come from when ya on the podium, Osu!

Coaches; You must have full coaching track suits, coaches T shirts and ID badges. I will send coaches your coaching pack to print off for the competition next Monday.

  • NOTE 14 - 15 MUST HAVE FULL WKF PROTECTION (FACE & BODY)
  • ALL UNDER 18 MUST HAVE SENT IN THEIR CONSENT FORMS.(IF YOU HAVE NOT YOU MUST SEND THESE IN YOURSELF AS I HAVE SENT IN ALL THAT WERE SENT TO ME.
  • TERRY POTTAGE HAS LOST HIS JOB AT THE EKF. THIS MAY EFFECT THE KENYU KAI COMPETITION AS HE RUNS IT, ALSO PLEASE READ BELOW;

There are a couple of refereeing developments that I would like to bring you up to speed on.Firstly, the BKF are supporting the Help for Heroes Charity and need this championships to be a success, not only for karate ka in Great Britain but also on behalf of all the men and women who have served in the armed forces. For spectators there will be the opportunity to donate on the day but for any referees who wish to donate any fees please contact the BKF pledging your support.

Secondly, the BKF have just received the resignation letter of our chief referee Mr Terry Pottage and will respond in due course. We are aware that  Terry has gained many supporters over the years in his role as a very senior referee and we fully understand that. There is a concern  that some referees will see the BKF championships as the ideal opportunity to respond in a negative fashion and disrupt the championships by withdrawing their services. I would urge all who are considering this option to separate their personal feelings from their professional duty. Britain has a championships to run, young kids and their families will be attending from all four nations, Young WKF hopefuls will use it to prepare for the WKF`S in Morocco, and we have a duty to them above all. The British Championships is the premier Karate event within Britain and it is only with full support of all, competitors, coaches, supporters and officials that these championships have established themselves as a premier event and only with continued full support will they continue to do so.

Thirdly, the BKF officiating is normally only open to BKF qualified judges and referees, however, this year the BKF Championships are being opened up to Nationally qualified officials too.

News from the CRB regarding ISA  (Independent Safeguarding Authority)

Phase 1

The new ISA requirement will launch on 12th October 09 and will provide for increased safeguards that will further enhance the protection of children and vulnerable adults... Initially all that will happen is that I, as the CRB officer will apply small changes to the way that I currently apply for CRB checks, nothing to do on your part.

Phase 2

Will be introduced next year 26th July 2010 and will allow individuals to apply for ISA registration, which we will all have to.... What this means is that a new type of form will be introduced by the CRB, which you will  be required to fill in, those with current CRB's will not need to bother with the ISA until it become necessary to re apply for your CRB.

I have heard although not officially, that those with current Enhanced CRB's, will be left to later as you can imagine the massive scale of the database. So the earliest will be 26th July 2010 and possible later.

My understanding is that....Those not on the CRB/ISA list will not be allowed to teach children or vulnerable adults, anyone who does so risks prosecution by the authorities.

AT OUR AGM IN DECEMBER ALL INSTRUCTORS WHO WISH TO UPDATE THEIR CRB WILL BE ABLE TO DO SO.
